Purple satin wide brim church hat with sequin trim - Shenor 。This beautiful early 20th. Century custom creation is a light blue velour and purple satin hat with a draped crown, and wonderful all-over topstitched large brim. There is a blue jewel and silver colored metal brooch to complete the look. Underneath the fabric, the crown is composed of a stiff mesh structure. It is in wonderful vintage condition, showing no signs of wear. After 1908 the silhouette became more slender. In the early Edwardian period (1901-1907) it was fashionable for a lady’s silhouette to resemble an S-shape. The hat was an essential element. It was worn on top of piled up hair and positioned to cantilever over the face. The hat became increasingly larger. By 1911 hats were at their largest, often with the brim extending beyond the breadth of the wearer’s shoulders. This piece of history has been lovingly preserved among over 1300 vintage hats we have collected for 40+ years. Mannequin not for sale.
